Getting ready for Natasha's Law with Food Allergy Training
In October, Natasha’s Law will come into effect, requiring all pre-packaged foods to carry a full ingredients list. BD Together has been working hard to ensure we are ready for these new regulations across our school catering business, and have implemented all the necessary measures to ensure we will be compliant in advance of the law coming into effect.
As part of this, our catering teams have been undergoing Food Allergy Awareness training to ensure they have a thorough understanding of allergens and the potential dangers surrounding them. Our course is IOSH approved and CPD accredited for total reassurance.
During the course our teams:
- Learn about the 14 major Food Allergens and their labelling
- Understand and work towards compliance with the Food Information Regulations and understand the laws surrounding food
- Learn how to avoid cross contamination
Darren Tranter, MD of BD Together, commented, “At BD Together we have always catered for children with food allergies so that they are able to have school meals and that they, their parents and carers can be reassured that their school meals are safe. Natasha’s Law is an important step forward and we are pleased that the industry as a whole is now required to clearly label food with their ingredients and allergy information.
“Food Allergy Awareness is just one of the many training courses our teams undertake as we are committed to continually investing in our people, which includes offering ongoing training and development opportunities to develop their skills and knowledge.”
