Eastbury Community School's high standards of cleanliness recognised in NHS Audit

Eastbury Community School in Barking has had a very successful site visit from the NHS Deep Cleaning and Advisory Service, which checked its protocols, procedures and risk assessments for keeping students, teachers and school staff safe.

The cleaning at Eastbury Community School is undertaken by a hard working and dedicated team from BD Together, which works closely with the school management team to provide an exceptional service.

The report concluded that:

Eastbury Community School is an impressive co-educational all-through school and sixth form located in Barking. Very well maintained to an exceptional high standard throughout. They have gone above and beyond in their protocols, procedures and risk assessments – the detail in all the planning is absolutely incredible. Olive Owusu-Attafuah, the Business Manager, and Shirley Pogmore, cleaning supervisor, were particularly accommodating, genuine and welcoming during my visit in all regards; it was apparent that they have a fantastic workforce and team.

The School have successfully created highly “Covid Secure” areas, many details have been thought about and large expense has been paid out for Sanitizers, Wipes and cleaning stations all around the school and in the classrooms. The systems in place are brilliant. The cleanliness of the school is of a particular high standard.

Darren Tranter, MD of BD Together, commented, “This is a fantastic and very well-deserved recognition of the hard work our cleaning team does at Eastbury. They have risen to the challenges of the last year, going above and beyond every single day to clean the school to an exceptionally high standard and keep everyone safe. We are so very proud of them!”

About NHS Deep Cleaning and Advisory Service

For the first time in England, domestic cleaning in public spaces can be standardised with an official protocol developed within the NHS and accredited by the Royal Society of Public Health.

Its aim is to elevate the standard of domestic cleaning in public spaces across England, and consequently help reduce the number of hospital admissions from bacterial and viral diseases. The NHS Deep Cleaning and Advisory Service will audit and train domestic cleaning staff with a protocol that can be measured. In addition, it can also support organisations with official site audits and bespoke environmental management plans.
