FAQs about supplying BD Group

Q. What about contracts below £50,000 value?

A. Low-value opportunities are let using a Request for Quotation procedure, where invites are sent to known, usually small and local providers.

Q. How do I get onto the BDTP list of Approved Suppliers?

A. BDTP does not have a list of Approved Suppliers

Q. How do I become ‘known’ to BDTP as a Supplier?

A. A good start is to register on Delta. Monitor the system regularly to see what opportunities are being advertised for which you might be able to bid.

Q. I have never bid for work like this before – how will I know what to do?

A. All tenders have an ‘Invitation to Tender’ which explains in great detail what is required, and how to do it. There is a messaging facility on the system that will allow you to ask any questions you may have, until the declared clarification submission deadline.

 Q. Do I need certain insurances?

A. Yes. The minimum requirement is £10million employer’s liability and £5million public liability cover. However, higher values may be required, and also other insurances may be required. The ITT will advise you what insurances you will need, if your bid should be successful.

Q. What is the impact of Procurement Law on BDTP tenders and my bid?

A. Because of its ownership by a local authority, BDTP must comply with procurement law, which is The Procurement Act 2023. Whilst the law applies in principle to all tenders, greater control steps in when the contract being tendered reaches certain values. We do not need to discuss the Procurement Act in detail here. Rest assured that the Invitation to Tender will fully explain the tender process being used, and that this process will comply with the requirements of the Act.

When bidding, a supplier just has to make sure they follow the instructions as given in the Invitation to Tender.
