BD Group is an independent commercial company that is wholly owned by the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, which combines the best experience from the private sector with the ethos and care of the public sector service and all our profits are invested back into the people and communities in which we serve, fully supporting the wellbeing of the Borough of Barking & Dagenham.
We strive to improve the environment in which we live and work whilst caring about the communities where we operate. We deliver meaningful social value and improve people’s lives in the communities. We develop social value plans, in partnership with our clients, to deliver long-term, sustainable outcomes. We proactively look to offer employment and training opportunities to local people and support initiatives to provide employment opportunities to young and disadvantaged people.
We aim to improve the overall health of the Borough by investing in the development of our team, teaching life skills, such as cooking, through after school classes and delivering workshops to promote good health across the community.
BD Group joins Daggers to Celebrate Diversity Day
Scores of local people converged at Dagenham and Redbridge FC’s ground on Saturday 24th February to take part in their annual Daggers Celebrate Diversity Day.
For the fourth consecutive year, BD Group sponsored the event which aims to celebrate cultural diversity across the borough and highlight efforts to promote community engagement.
The day featured a range of activities, including a penalty shoot-out, inflatables, cricket, music, free give-aways, and a giant crane ride for children. A number of guests were also in attendance including the army, the police, the fire brigade, and representatives from the Mayor of London’s office.
The matchday programme design winner was treated to a VIP day out with her family and the second and third placed runners-up also received prizes.
Two-walk-out teams made up of young people from schools in the borough, accompanied the players onto the pitch before spectators were treated to a thrilling match between Dagenham & Redbridge FC and FC Halifax Town.
Although the hosts lost, nothing could take the shine off what proved to be a memorable day.
