BD Group has once again joined forces with the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham (LBBD) on the Winter Holiday Activity and Food Program (HAF), a government initiative aimed at supporting children and families across the Borough during the holiday period.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the BD Together team supported families and vulnerable children across Barking and Dagenham by providing food hampers which equated to over 200,000 meals.

To mark World Bee Day, BD Together’s school catering teams held a special theme day with a range of activities and initiatives to raise awareness of the importance of bees. The day was a great success and led to an increase of over 3,300 extra school meals across all our schools in Barking and Dagenham.

The team at William Bellamy work tirelessly to ensure that the children receive healthy and tasty meals, listening continuously to feedback from the children to ensure they love their school lunches. They were shortlisted in the Primary School Catering Team of the Year Award in the 2020 LACA Awards for Excellence.

The catering team at Eastbury Community School work hard to produce a varied, interesting lunch offering to students, all whilst still putting sustainability and the environment at the forefront of everything they do. The lunch area has recently been redesigned to include ‘street food bars’ to great success.

BD Services has developed a solution to upgrade and insulate 'boxed bathrooms' which were installed on the back of many older properties in the 1970s. To date, we have insulated over 300 box bathrooms to the delight of the residents whilst improving energy efficiency and reducing maintenance costs.

In October 2020, BD Together supporting LACA (the school food people) and its initiative Hotober, designed to encourage schools and children to return to having a hot meal at lunchtime. Working in conjunction with the schools, we wanted to reassure parents that school lunches are safe, promote the health benefits of our lunches and the improvement to children’s attainment and development that eating a balanced diet can make. Plus raise awareness of Free School Meals to parents who may have previously not claimed or not been eligible.
